Young writers are invited to submit a short play script as part of a competition staged by the MCS Arts Festival Oxford 2015. Winning submissions will be directed and performed by MCS pupils at the Burton Taylor Studio in three performances between 30th June-2nd July 2015 as part of this year’s MCS Arts Festival Oxford. The show will then transfer to the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2015.

An underlying theme of the 2015 Festival is Oxford’s routes/roots, and The Burton Taylor Show will take Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales as its starting point. Scripts should be inspired by, or maintain a connection with, the Canterbury Tales, and should be comic or light-hearted in tone.

Entries must be around 10 minutes in length. They should be written for a cast of 3-6 actors, with simple technical requirements.

Writers must be aged between 16 and 25 on June 30th 2015.

The deadline for applications is 1st March 2015.
